Summer is the perfect time of the year to connect with that playful side of you. To try new things, maybe make new friends, try different experiences…
How often do you do it though? When was the last time you played? Just for the sake of having fun?
One of the things I teach my clients to do is to find one hour a week, just ONE hour to go and play. To be silly, to try something new, to take a tiny step out of their comfort zone.
That one hour a week is designed to keep your creative juices going, to keep you sane and to create new possibilities in life. You are also meant to spend it alone, so that you can focus on YOU and what YOU want to be doing, rather than worrying about everyone else having fun.
So many of my clients resist because “they are too busy” or “the kids take priority”. What they are saying though is that they are not a priority, that spending an hour a week on themselves is perhaps selfish. I call BS here. If you don’t have an hour a week to play and have fun, do you even have a life??
You’d love to give yourself an hour a week but not sure what to do? Well, I am so glad you asked because here are some of the ideas from my clients to get you inspired:
- Swinging on the swings at the park
- Sitting or walking in nature
- Adult colouring in a café
- Splashing in the sea
- Painting classes
- Making daisy chains
When will you give yourself time to play? Let me know in the comments. And make sure you let me know what you will do for fun too so we can all get inspired!
