I used to be scared of essential oils. I really was.
I knew they existed, I knew they smelled great and the word on the street was that they had magical powers. I was pulled to use them, yet at the same time I was resisting, I was afraid to fail and “do something wrong”.
I remember a friend giving me some lavender oil that I instantly used on my pillow that night, and loved the smell and relaxation it brought. Then I witnessed someone using peppermint and wild orange to wake up and concentrate better in a long day of training. I purchased some oils here and there and added them to my homemade skin care products. It was like a dance – one step forward, two steps back.
And then I took the plunge, got serious about exploring the benefits of the oils, and never looked back. Today I use oils all day every day.
Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. They can be both beautifully and powerfully fragrant.
In addition to giving plants their distinctive smells, essential oils provide plants with protection against predators and disease and play a role in plant pollination.
Essential oils are very clean, almost crisp, to the touch and are immediately absorbed by the skin. Pure, unadulterated essential oils are translucent and range in colour from crystal clear to deep blue.
Pure therapeutic grade essential oils represent the safest oils available today. They are skillfully distilled from plants around the world in order to provide the most benefits. Essential oil users recognize the superior quality of pure therapeutic grade oils.
Essential oils have been used throughout history in many cultures for their medicinal and therapeutic benefits. Modern scientific studies and trends are moving towards more holistic approaches to wellness. Essential oils are now paving the way for individuals and families to reinvent their healthcare in the comfort of their own homes.
Essential oils are used for a very wide range of emotional and physical wellness applications. They can be used a single oil at a time or in complex blends depending on user experience and desired benefit. Essential oils are usually administered by one of three methods: diffused aromatically, applied topically, or taken internally as dietary supplements.
