“What do you want to do when you grow up?” my Dad used to ask me with an infuriating regularity. I hated that question because frankly I had no idea what the hell I wanted to do when I grow up. I was too busy being a teenager, having meltdowns and trying to get by at school.
The more he asked, the more annoyed I got, because I felt I wasn’t able to give him what I wanted. I didn’t want to be a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher… I didn’t have big career goals and I felt like I was letting him down.
Mind you, we were having those conversation 20+ years ago (how the time flies!) and really the only career path to follow back then was to go to Uni, get a degree and hope for a “secure employment”. So I went to Uni, did three degrees (because I still didn’t know what I wanted to do!!) and then as soon as I graduated I moved to England because I hoped that would stop the “what do you want to do” question.
It took me many years to figure out what I wanted to do – but I finally feel like I’m where I’m meant to be, doing what I’m meant to be doing. With my coaching business and my luxury hair care partnership I have the perfect variety to my day, challenge and fulfilment.
Do you know what you want to do when you grow up? Share with me in the comments.
And its ok if you don’t, but let’s talk. I can help you get clarity on your next career steps. Maybe coaching is for you? Maybe a partnership with luxury hair care company is the next step? Maybe we could be friends? Whatever it is – send me a message or type “more” in the comments and let’s connect.
Lots of love
